Educators who use the Language Tree program consistently and with fidelity achieve the best outcomes for students. That's why professional development is the cornerstone of successful implementation. We offer a variety of PD formats to fit teachers' busy schedules.

The first Professional Development session focuses on "getting started with Language Tree." Subsequent sessions are customized to address your students' specific needs and challenges. Most district partners choose a series of live PD sessions delivered at regular intervals throughout the school year.

Language Tree Professional Development covers both program-related and pedagogical topics, including:

Administering and interpreting language assessment results
Putting students on the right instructional path
Integrating the program into your teaching and weekly class schedule
Best practices for using the program in a mixed-level classroom
Working with newcomers, including SLIFEs/SIFEs
Progress monitoring and intervention techniques
Overview of administrative reporting
Using the Performance Indicator to prepare ELLs for summative assessments

Our trainers include National Board-certified ELD specialists and former multilingual educators with years of classroom experience.

Coaching

In addition to formal PD sessions, we offer shorter coaching sessions for teachers and administrators. This could be in the form of refresher training, developing a plan for a specific classroom scenario, or co-strategizing on how to structure a district-wide ELD program.
